Account takeover via client-visible static OTP
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Authentication bypass in Safetipin Android Application 5.2.1 allows remote attackers to take over accounts through the OTP flow. The backend returns the requested phone number's OTP in a client-visible response and, in testing, always issued 0000, which the login endpoint accepted without a password. Knowledge of the target phone number and observation of traffic from an attacker-controlled client are sufficient; access to the victim's device or SMS inbox is not required.
