Cross-site script execution via unsafe innerHTML rendering

Published Nov 7, 2025 · Updated Nov 12, 2025

Cross-site scripting in SourceCodester MatchMaster 1.0 allows remote attackers to execute injected script through a crafted custom test. The createCustomTest() and createItemElement() paths render untrusted titles and matching-pair items in matching-area using innerHTML, enabling event-handler injection. No authentication is required, but a victim must complete the crafted test and activate the rendered element, exposing or changing data available to the page.
