Root code execution via forgeable SD updates
Published Nov 24, 2025 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Improper update validation in Blurams Lumi Security Camera A31C 23.1227.472.2926 allows physically proximate attackers to execute code. The U-Boot SD auto-upgrade path accepts a forged f1r03_SD_UPDATA.enc image protected only by reversible XOR encoding and attacker-computable CRCs, then erases and rewrites SPI-flash partitions. Physical access to insert the card and power-cycle the camera is required; a modified SquashFS boot script executes a bind shell as root.
