Unauthenticated service crash via malformed DACP move request
Published Jan 20, 2026 · Updated Jan 20, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in OwnTone through commit b7e385f allows remote attackers to crash the server with a crafted DACP request. The dacp_reply_playqueueedit_move handler adds one to an unchecked strchr result before passing it to safe_atoi32; a missing colon yields address 1 and strtol segfaults. An unauthenticated network client that can reach the DACP endpoint can terminate the OwnTone process, interrupting media service until it restarts.
