Code execution via unsigned plugin updates
Published Nov 24, 2025 · Updated Nov 24, 2025
Improper update validation in Xtooltech Xtool AnyScan Android Application 4.40.40 and earlier allows attackers to run code via malicious plugins. The updater extracts plugin archives and later loads libscan.so or libscan_x64.so with dlopen without verifying package integrity or origin. Exploitation requires control of update metadata, delivery of a crafted archive, and loading of the malicious scanner; code runs with the app's permissions and persists across reboots.
