Update traffic tampering via empty TrustManager override
Published Nov 24, 2025 · Updated Nov 24, 2025
TLS certificate validation in Xtooltech Xtool AnyScan 4.40.40 and earlier allows man-in-the-middle attackers to alter update traffic. The com.xtool.diagnostic.fwcom.net.OKHttpDownload.buildTrustManagers() method supplies an empty TrustManager override that accepts every HTTPS certificate used by the update endpoint. Network-path access and user selection of a malicious plugin update are required; the documented multi-flaw chain then executes attacker code in the application context.
