Privilege escalation via stored chat scripts
Published Nov 5, 2025 · Updated Nov 5, 2025
Stored XSS in SelfBest platform 2023.3 chat allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in other users' sessions. Chat message handling stores attacker-supplied markup and later renders it without neutralizing executable script content. Low-privileged chat access is sufficient; execution in a more privileged user's session exposes administrative data and functions, including /admin/users.
