Authenticated SEO metadata modification via missing capability check
Published Oct 27, 2025 · Updated Oct 27, 2025
Missing authorization in SEO Meta Description Updater 1.2.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to modify post SEO metadata. The REST handler for POST /wp-json/seo-meta/v1/update/{post_id} performs the requested metadata update without a capability check on the target post. Contributor-level access is sufficient to invoke the action, and published evidence limits the demonstrated consequence to unauthorized SEO metadata changes.
