Local service shutdown via malformed control message

Improper error handling in OpenSMTPD on openSUSE Tumbleweed before 7.8.0p0-1.1 allows local users to shut down all smtpd services. The mproc_dispatch() path calls fatal() when a client sends a malformed message header to the world-writable /var/run/smtpd.sock control socket, so the control process exits and terminates the daemon group. Any local user able to connect to that socket can interrupt mail service; the reported impact is limited to availability.
