Contributor-level script execution in visitor browsers
Published Dec 31, 2025 · Updated Dec 31, 2025
Stored XSS in BuddyDev BuddyPress Activity Shortcode 1.1.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run scripts in visitors' browsers. The public CNA record and Patchstack advisory do not identify the input field, shortcode attribute, function, or missing neutralization operation. Contributor-level access is required to plant content, and exploitation requires another user to visit the affected page, exposing that browser session to attacker-supplied script actions.
