CVE-2025-62728Network attack vector

Authenticated SQL injection via unbound statistics fields

Published Nov 26, 2025 · Updated Dec 1, 2025

SQL injection in Apache Hive 4.1.0 before 4.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to read or alter metastore data via Thrift requests. MetaStoreDirectSql concatenates column names and engine values into DELETE statements instead of binding them as parameters. Exploitation requires authorized HMS Thrift API access and direct SQL enabled, and successful injection affects the backing metastore database.
