Unauthenticated code execution via unchecked API parameters
Published Oct 21, 2025 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Command injection in Wikimedia Foundation Springboard master allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through the MediaWiki API. SpringboardAPI.php concatenates unvalidated sbrepo, sbbranch, sbname, and sbcommit values into git commands passed to exec(), while other unchecked values are written into executable CustomLoader.php. The API omits permission checks, so any remote attacker who can reach the wiki API can run commands with the MediaWiki server process's privileges; some payloads also corrupt the wiki.
