Stored XSS via raw system-message HTML
Published Oct 18, 2025 · Updated Oct 20, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in Wikimedia Foundation UploadWizard before 1.39 allows attackers to execute scripts in users' browsers. The client interface inserts an editable MediaWiki system message directly as HTML instead of processing it through the message parser. The stored payload requires control of a MediaWiki system message and executes when the affected UploadWizard interface displays that message.
