Cross-site scripting via unsafe iframe source promotion
Published Oct 22, 2025 · Updated Oct 22, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Wikimedia Foundation MediaWiki CookieConsent extension before 2.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to run script. Client code copies the allowed data-src value from a matching iframe into its executable src attribute without URL-scheme validation. Exploitation requires another tag extension to emit an iframe from attacker-controlled wikitext attributes and a visitor to grant the relevant cookie consent, enabling script execution in that visitor's browser.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
