SQL injection via unescaped review filter strings
Published Oct 20, 2025 · Updated Oct 20, 2025
SQL injection in Wikimedia Foundation MediaWiki WatchAnalytics 1.43 and 1.44 allows remote authenticated users to alter database queries. Special:ClearPendingReviews inserts unescaped page-title and category filter strings into raw SQL conditions, so crafted values execute as SQL syntax. The clearreviews permission, granted to sysop by default, is required; successful injection can read or alter database data or interrupt query processing.
