CVE-2025-62654Network attack vector

Stored XSS via unescaped system messages

Published Oct 17, 2025 · Updated Oct 17, 2025

Stored XSS in Wikimedia Foundation MediaWiki QuizGame 1.39, 1.43, and 1.44 allows remote authenticated users to run script in browsers. QuizGame retrieves system messages with mw.msg, concatenates them with HTML, and passes them to LightBox.setText, API-derived raw HTML sinks, or innerHTML without escaping. Exploitation requires privileges to alter a consumed system message and a user to load an affected quiz interface; the script then runs in that user's site origin.
