Stored XSS via raw system-message HTML
Published Oct 17, 2025 · Updated Oct 17, 2025
Stored XSS in Wikimedia Foundation PollNY 1.39, 1.43, and 1.44 allows remote authenticated users to run script in visitors' browsers. Poll.js retrieves poll-js-action-complete and related system messages without escaping, then passes them to jQuery .html() or LightBox.setText() as raw HTML. The attacker needs permission to alter a system message or administer a poll, and a visitor must enter a PollNY flow that renders that message.
