CVE-2025-62652Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via unescaped security-key name

Published Oct 17, 2025 · Updated Oct 17, 2025

Stored XSS in Wikimedia Foundation MediaWiki WebAuthn Extension 1.39, 1.43, and 1.44 allows remote authenticated users to run scripts. The WebAuthn management UI inserts an attacker-controlled security-key name into HTML without escaping it before Special:AccountSecurity displays the stored value. Exploitation requires an account without 2FA, completion of interactive WebAuthn enrollment, and a later visit to that page, where the script runs in the account holder's browser.
