Authenticated endpoint takeover via missing artifact permissions
Published Jun 20, 2025 · Updated Nov 28, 2025
Incorrect default permissions in Rapid7 Velociraptor before 0.74.3 allow remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands. The Admin.Client.UpdateClientConfig artifact updates endpoint configuration without declaring its required EXECVE and FILESYSTEM_WRITE permissions. COLLECT_CLIENT access, typically granted by the Investigator role, is sufficient to run the artifact and take over managed endpoints.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
