CVE-2025-62628

SYSTEM code execution via writable OpenSSL configuration

Published May 14, 2026 · Updated May 14, 2026

Uncontrolled search path in six AMD manageability tools allows local users to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges. The tools set OPENSSL_CONF to a default Windows path writable by non-administrative users, letting a crafted openssl.cnf load an attacker-controlled DLL. A local low-privileged user must place the configuration file and wait for a privileged tool launch, after which the DLL runs as SYSTEM.
