Unauthenticated book exfiltration via unprotected media endpoints
Published Oct 22, 2025 · Updated Oct 22, 2025
Authentication bypass in BookLore 1.8.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to read stored book media through unauthenticated API requests. BookMediaController media endpoints omit Spring Security access-control annotations, while CoverJwtFilter passes tokenless requests down the filter chain. No account or user interaction is required; sequential book IDs expose covers, thumbnails, and complete PDF or CBX pages, bypassing canDownload restrictions.
