CVE-2025-62610Network attack vector

Cross-service access via missing JWT audience validation

Published Oct 22, 2025 · Updated Oct 22, 2025

Improper authorization in Hono 1.1.0 through 4.10.1 allows remote attackers to access APIs with JWTs issued for another audience. The JWT authentication middleware's verifyOptions omit aud, so verification accepts a correctly signed token without confirming that its audience identifies the receiving API. The issue is reachable when services share an issuer or keys and use audience claims to separate authorization boundaries, enabling unintended cross-service endpoint access.
