Local code execution via use-after-free
Published Dec 9, 2025 · Updated Apr 16, 2026
Use-after-free in Microsoft Excel allows context-dependent attackers to execute code locally after required user interaction. Microsoft has not disclosed the affected Excel component, the stale object's lifetime error, or the input operation that reuses the freed memory. Successful exploitation runs attacker-controlled code in the user's security context; the published assessment requires no prior privileges but does require user interaction.
