Stored XSS via innerHTML label assignment
Published Oct 17, 2025 · Updated Oct 17, 2025
Stored XSS in Citizen 3.3.0 through 3.8.x allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through altered interface messages. The copyButtonAttributes function in stickyHeader.js writes a source label's textContent into the destination's innerHTML, decoding escaped markup into executable HTML. A user holding editinterface without editsitejs can trigger the payload when another user opens a main-page article, exposing session data and actions to injected script.
