CVE-2025-6250

Administrator escalation via elevated WMIC service stop

Published Jul 28, 2025 · Updated Jul 28, 2025

Anti-tamper bypass in BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management for Windows before 25.4.270.0 allows local users to gain administrator rights. An elevated wmic.exe process running with a full administrator token can stop the Avecto Defendpoint Service despite its anti-tamper protection. Exploitation requires local authenticated access and an approved full-token WMIC elevation; disabling the service permits persistent Administrators-group membership and arbitrary elevated process execution.
