Stored XSS via content-based extension rewrite

Published Oct 16, 2025 · Updated Oct 16, 2025

Stored XSS in Bagisto 2.3.7 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in an administrator's browser via image upload. The TinyMCE upload backend accepts HTML or JavaScript content renamed with a .png extension, detects its content, and rewrites the stored extension to .html instead of rejecting or neutralizing the active content. Upload privileges and a separate administrator or editor viewing the resulting HTML are required, exposing that viewer's session to hijacking and unauthorized actions.
