CVE-2025-6233Network attack vector

Admin-only system-file read via bulk-import path traversal

Published Jul 18, 2025 · Updated Jul 18, 2025

Path traversal in affected Mattermost releases allows remote authenticated users with system-admin rights to read arbitrary system files. Bulk import's processAttachmentPaths joined each JSONL attachment path to the import base path without verifying that the result remained under that directory. A system admin must submit and process a crafted bulk-import archive; the flaw exposes files readable by the server process without enabling writes.

Exploitability

Present is not the same as exploitable

Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Is a vulnerable build present?

Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
