Local privilege escalation via configuration-file modification
Published Jul 17, 2025 · Updated Jul 17, 2025
Improper validation in Lenovo Vantage and Commercial Vantage allows local users to execute code with elevated permissions. Lenovo identifies the trigger only as modification of an application configuration file and has not disclosed the file, parser, or invalid field. A local low-privilege account is required, and successful exploitation grants elevated code execution rather than remote initial access.
