CVE-2025-62261Network attack vector

Account takeover via plaintext password-reset tickets

Published Oct 27, 2025 · Updated Oct 27, 2025

Cleartext token storage in Liferay Portal and Liferay DXP allows attackers with database access to take over user accounts. UserLocalServiceImpl.notifyUser persists each password-reset ticket key before placing the same raw key in the reset URL, leaving the database copy readable. An attacker must first read the Liferay database; the exposed ticket then authorizes a password reset and takeover of the associated account.
