CVE-2025-62187

Arbitrary file writes via unsanitized sound paths

Published Oct 7, 2025 · Updated Oct 7, 2025

Relative path traversal in Ankitects Anki before 25.02.6 allows local users to write files outside the media folder on Windows and Linux. Playback code in qt/aqt/sound.py passed sound filenames directly to mpv or joined them without basename validation, allowing special-scheme or parent-path references to escape the media directory. A crafted sound reference must reach local playback; the demonstrated consequence is filesystem writes rather than disclosure or service interruption.
