CVE-2025-61969

Local privilege escalation via unchecked IOCTL access

Published Feb 11, 2026 · Updated Feb 11, 2026

Privilege escalation in AMD uProf before 5.2.431 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through the AMDPowerProfiler.sys driver. The driver handles IOCTL requests without properly validating user access, exposing arbitrary file read and write operations to unprivileged callers. A low-privileged local account must reach the driver and interact with it; successful exploitation grants elevated code execution and arbitrary file access.
