CVE-2025-6196

Application crash via truncated EPUB entry size

Published Jun 17, 2025 · Updated Nov 6, 2025

Denial of service in GNOME libgepub before 0.7.2 allows local users to crash consuming applications with a crafted EPUB file. gepub_archive_read_entry() truncates a 64-bit archive entry size to signed 32-bit before passing the wrapped value to g_malloc0(). Processing attacker-supplied EPUB content is required; automatic directory preview services can trigger the failing allocation while browsing files.
