URL manipulation via unvalidated forwarded host
Published Oct 10, 2025 · Updated Oct 10, 2025
Host header injection in Astro before 5.14.2 allows remote attackers to manipulate generated URLs through X-Forwarded-Host. The server-side URL construction path trusts X-Forwarded-Host over Host without validation, causing Astro.url consumers to emit attacker-chosen origins. Reachability requires on-demand rendering and a response that uses Astro.url; a caching proxy can persist poisoned links for later visitors.
