CVE-2025-61915Public exploit

Local service crash via malformed IPv6 configuration

Published Nov 29, 2025 · Updated Dec 3, 2025

Stack buffer underwrite in OpenPrinting CUPS before 2.4.15 allows local users in the lpadmin group to crash the cupsd service. The get_addr_and_mask function accepts excess IPv6 colons that drive its array index negative, then writes attacker-chosen hexadecimal values before the ip buffer. Administrative CUPS access is required; parsing the malformed cupsd.conf as root can interrupt printing, while the established impact is limited to availability.
