Reflected XSS via unsanitized search query
Published Apr 24, 2026 · Updated Apr 24, 2026
Cross-site scripting in Mahara 25.04 before 25.04.2 and 24.04 before 24.04.11 allows remote attackers to run browser script. The Elasticsearch7 search plugin fails to sanitize the query parameter before the site-search results page displays it, allowing attacker-controlled content to execute in the viewer’s browser. The site must use Elasticsearch7 search, and exploitation requires a user to open crafted results; impact is limited to the browser context.
