CVE-2025-61871

SYSTEM code execution via unquoted service path

Published Oct 10, 2025 · Updated Oct 10, 2025

Unquoted service path in BUFFALO INC. NAS Navigator2 before 3.12.0 allows local users to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges. The installed Windows service stores an executable path containing spaces without quotation marks, so service startup can resolve an attacker-placed executable from the system-drive root. Exploitation requires write permission at that root and yields code execution under the service account's SYSTEM authority.
