CVE-2025-61785Public exploit

Timestamp modification via missing futime permission checks

Published Oct 8, 2025 · Updated Oct 8, 2025

Permission bypass in Deno before 2.2.15 and 2.3.0 through 2.5.2 allows local users to alter file access and modification times. The op_fs_futime_sync and op_fs_futime_async operations used a file resource identifier to invoke utime without recovering its path and applying a write-permission check. Code execution with read access is sufficient to change timestamps on a read-only-opened file despite an explicit deny-write policy, enabling metadata tampering without file-content writes.
