Application crash via unbounded multipart header buffering
Published Oct 7, 2025 · Updated Oct 7, 2025
Uncontrolled resource consumption in Rack before 2.2.19, 3.1.17, and 3.2.2 allows remote attackers to crash applications via multipart requests. Rack::Multipart::Parser waits for a terminating CRLFCRLF sequence while appending incoming header bytes to an uncapped buffer. The affected application must parse multipart input; incomplete part headers can exhaust process memory, causing severe slowdown or termination.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
