CVE-2025-6177

Root code execution via unrestricted MiniOS debug shell

Published Jun 16, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026

Privilege escalation in Google ChromeOS 16063.45.2 allows local users to gain root code execution through the MiniOS VT3 console. During developer-mode entry, MiniOS exposes a root debug shell on VT3 after specific key combinations without honoring device policy or FWMP restrictions. Physical keyboard access to an enrolled Chromebook is required, and the bypass grants unrestricted root command execution even when developer mode is blocked.
