Client crash via unbounded Brotli decompression
Published Oct 31, 2025 · Updated Oct 31, 2025
Denial of service in Scrapy 2.13.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash crawling clients through Brotli-compressed responses. HttpCompressionMiddleware limits compressed input rather than decompressed output, so a tiny zero-filled Brotli payload expands until memory is exhausted. A client must fetch an attacker-controlled response with Brotli support enabled; affected hosts with less than 80 GB of available memory can crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
