CVE-2025-61680

Password disclosure via plaintext settings storage

Published Oct 3, 2025 · Updated Oct 3, 2025

Plaintext password storage in Minecraft RCON Terminal 0.1.0 through 2.0.6 allows local users to read saved RCON credentials. The extension passes passwords to VS Code's configuration API, which persists them unencrypted in settings.json rather than protected secret storage. Any local user able to read the VS Code settings file, synchronized settings, or a committed workspace configuration can recover the RCON password.
