CVE-2025-61677

Local code execution via pickled environment values

Published Oct 3, 2025 · Updated Oct 3, 2025

Deserialization in DataChain before 0.34.2 allows local users to execute code by setting crafted environment variables. DataChain's loader.py decodes DATACHAIN__METASTORE or DATACHAIN__WAREHOUSE values and passes the bytes to pickle.loads without validating their contents. The attacker must be able to set the application's environment before it loads, after which the pickle payload executes with that process's privileges.
