Local privilege escalation via writable Python cache
Published Nov 12, 2025 · Updated Nov 12, 2025
Local privilege escalation in Datadog Agent 7.65.0 through 7.70.2 allows local users to execute code with elevated privileges. The Linux installer leaves opt/datadog-agent/python-scripts/pycache insufficiently restricted, allowing low-privileged users to replace cached Python code that the Agent executes during a later install or upgrade. Exploitation requires a valid low-privilege host account and a subsequent Agent install or upgrade; container, Kubernetes, Windows, and other Agent variants are unaffected.
