Stored XSS via HTML-inserted sticky-header labels
Published Feb 3, 2026 · Updated Feb 3, 2026
Stored XSS in Wikimedia Foundation Vector before 1.43.4 and 1.44.1 allows remote authenticated users to run script in visitors' browsers. The stickyHeader.js code inserts labels sourced from editable system messages into the DOM as HTML rather than text. Administrator-level access to modify a system message is required; stored markup then executes when a visitor renders an affected sticky-header button.
