Stored XSS via unescaped system messages

Stored XSS in Wikimedia Foundation VisualEditor branches before 1.39.14, 1.43.4, and 1.44.1 allows remote authenticated users to run script. The affected API, article-target, and save-dialog code sends editable system-message content into HTML rendering paths without consistently escaping or parsing it. An attacker needs high-privilege access to change system messages; opening an affected VisualEditor workflow then executes the stored script in other users' browser contexts.
