Restricted page metadata disclosure via missing authorization
Published Feb 3, 2026 · Updated Feb 3, 2026
Improper authorization in Wikimedia Foundation DiscussionTools before 1.43.4 or 1.44.1 allows remote attackers to read restricted page metadata. The discussiontoolspageinfo Action API returns page-initialization metadata without calling authorizeRead for the requested page. The target page must deny the caller read access; the flaw discloses metadata only and does not grant page modification or service disruption.
