Stored XSS via raw translated caption
Published Feb 3, 2026 · Updated Feb 3, 2026
Stored XSS in MediaWiki before 1.44.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in visitors' browsers via interface messages. CodexTablePager passes the cdx-table-sort-caption message through text() and inserts the result into a raw caption element without HTML escaping. Interface-administrator access is required to alter the message, and rendering a sortable Codex table triggers the script in that visitor's MediaWiki session.
