Arbitrary file write and deletion via CLI traversal
Published Apr 14, 2026 · Updated Apr 14, 2026
Path traversal in the CLI of Fortinet FortiOS, FortiPAM, FortiProxy, and FortiSwitch Manager allows local users to alter files. Fortinet identifies only specific CLI commands as the vulnerable locus and has not disclosed how pathname validation fails. Exploitation requires an authenticated admin profile with read-write permission; successful commands can overwrite or remove arbitrary files.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=6.4.0 <=6.4.16
- Affected versionversion=7.0.0 <=7.0.19
- Affected versionversion=7.2.0 <=7.2.13
- Affected versionversion=7.4.0 <=7.4.9
