Admin account takeover via unencoded mail templates
Published Oct 3, 2025 · Updated Oct 3, 2025
Stored XSS in emlog before 2.5.22 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through saved mail-template content. The mail template editor persists raw HTML without server-side sanitization and renders it in /admin/setting.php?action=mail without output encoding. An attacker needs administrative access, or an administrator must save attacker-supplied content; revisiting the page exposes the administrator's session and account to takeover.
