CVE-2025-61553Public exploit

Host crash via wrapped VirtIO descriptor lengths

Published Oct 16, 2025 · Updated Oct 16, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in BitVisor from commit 108df6 before commit 480907 allows local users to crash the host via crafted VirtIO-net requests. In drivers/net/virtio_net.c, do_net_ctrl sums guest-controlled descriptor lengths in a 32-bit value, allocates the wrapped size, then copies each full descriptor into the undersized heap buffer. Exploitation requires a build with the optional virtio-net feature enabled and guest PCI access; the demonstrated outcome is a host hang, while code execution and guest escape remain unproven.
